China: Sales of industrial robots increased by 19%
North America and Europe: Strong growth expected

FRANKFURT--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) released the "Global Robot Report", in which preliminary data on China shows that the sales of industrial robots will increase by 19% in 2020.

"The outlook for the robotics industry is very optimistic," said Milton Guerry, chairman of the International Federation of Robotics. "In China, the COVID-19 isolation measures took the lead and the robotics industry has begun to recover in 2020. A total of 167,000 units have been shipped. Industrial robot."

The growth of the Chinese market has also had a very positive impact on foreign suppliers-new industrial robots shipped from abroad increased by 24% to 123,000 units. Japanese suppliers occupy a major market share. Domestic suppliers delivered 44,000 robots in the local market, an increase of 8% compared to 2019.

Global, North America and Europe

In 2020, especially under the influence of the COVID-19, the total number of global robot installations has dropped by 2%. However, the decline in sales was slightly less than expected.

The OECD forecasts global GDP growth rate of 5.5% in 2021 and 4% in 2022. However, the situation in different countries is complicated.

In 2021, orders in the robotics industry will increase, and we have reason to expect strong growth in North America and Europe. For example, orders in the United States quickly became saturated. In Germany, a strong recovery is expected this year, marking a positive turning point for the robotics industry. If it can quickly break through the current bottleneck in the supply of key components, even higher sales can be achieved.

Reduce carbon emissions

The world is committed to achieving climate neutrality, and this move is spawning new businesses. In order to achieve ambitious climate goals, economies have begun to expand the application of renewable energy and environmental technologies to an unprecedented scale. Through robotics and automation, companies of all sizes can produce required components, such as fuel packs or batteries for hydrogen-powered vehicles in the transportation sector and solar panels in the energy sector. The easy-to-use new generation of robotics technology helps to optimize performance in the production process, so that the manufacturing industry is closer to the regional market and the price is more competitive.

"Facts have proved that robotics technology is very flexible, can quickly adapt to production, respond to changes in demand and small batch production," Milton Guerry said: "The advantage of increased productivity is that it can be achieved by maintaining corporate competitiveness. To protect employment."
